Mum Blog: Forget Birthday Party Burnout

That kids birthday party burnout, year after year. No matter how far in advance I plan for the big day it seems to creep up on me – along with it comes anxiety, stress and the numerous swipes of my credit card it could almost be considered a workout. (Get fit for the new year – tick. Save more money in the new year – still in process.)

This year, I decided not to continue on the tradition of manic arrangements, blowing up balloons and trying to entertain guests. All the while pulling out pizzas from the oven, supervising the bouncy castle and unintentionally picking up popcorn whilst maneuvering my way through streamers to check everyone is smiling – did I even check my son was having the best day of his life! After reflecting on all that, I decided to book a party room at Chipmunks and hand over all the party planning, decorating, hosting and clean up to the team. Why had I not done this sooner!

Here are my top tips for having your child’s birthday party at Chipmunks.

Book In Advance.

Parties at Chipmunks are popular, so to avoid disappointment secure your booking as soon as possible. The space is great for adults to mingle and chat while the kids play and also supervise their children in the playground.

Pick a Party Package That Suits You.

There are a few options to choose from depending on your needs and budget. We chose the Birthday Bonanza Package as it included goody bags, a party game (which we would have done if at home), a birthday cake, adult platter and a visit from Charlie the Chipmunk. Seeing my sons face when Charlie came out was enough to secure I’d made the right decision. However, all of the options come with a great basic birthday package including kids meals, partyware and unlimited entry for up to eight kids.

Make it Your Own.

Although the Birthday Bonanza package included everything we needed to just turn up and play our dedicated party host worked with us to customise the party and include a few additional extras. We added a few more platters for adults and a couple of pizzas to keep the group going longer – making the most of the unlimited play.

Take a Break.

Being able to chat with our guests, parents and family was as exciting as seeing my sons happiest face throughout the party. I could relax and enjoy the moment without having to worry about cooking, decorating, hosting and cleaning up as it was all done by the amazing Chipmunks store staff.

After the party we had very happy and very tired children and our guests seemed to enjoy themselves as well. We are grateful to the Chipmunks team for making everything run smoothly and hosting a party which let me have fun too! See you next year Charlie.
